Masterbuilt Smoker Reviews

Masterbuilt has some good smokers, so let’s look at them.  We’ll take a look at the Masterbuilt M7P 7-in-1 Smoker and Grill with Pan and Basket Set, and the Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker.  At the very least these two options will inform you of the different kinds of smokers there are out there.

Masterbuilt Smoker Reviews

The M7P is cylindrical in shape, and stands above the ground on legs.  It measures 18.5 X 18.1 X 17.3 inches, and weighs about fifty-five pounds.  It will cost you around a hundred-and-fifty dollars.  It’s a good smoker for functionality.  You can use it for either propane or charcoal use.  Propane use is less of a hassle.  You just turn it on and as long as you remembered to refuel, things should go great.  Charcoal needs to be babied over a little.  This can end up making the food taste better; I mean, if you think charcoal smoked food tastes better.

The 20070910 model is a lot different.  For one thing, it’s shaped like a box, or a tiny fridge.  It measures 19.5 X 18.3 X 34 inches.  So you mathematicians out there already know that this smoker is a shaped differently than the other one.  This model costs about two-hundred-and-fifteen dollars.  While the M7P let you choose between charcoal and propane, this model only lets you use electricity.  Electricity can be a lot easier to use, because you don’t have to replace anything.  The downside is that it doesn’t get as hot as coals or propane.  This can be a bum deal if you want your food to be crispy.

I would be a liar if I said this product was completely reliable.  It’s comparatively priced with other brands that sell more reliable electric smokers.  A lot of people have had success with these smokers, but enough people haven’t that it is worth noting.  Bottom line: be careful if you insist on purchasing this model.  Use it enough before the warranty runs out that it was worth having it.

These two smokers will get the job done.  Going out to get smoked meat can end up being very pricey.  In the long run it’s cheaper to get your own smoker.  Masterbuilt fits the bill.  If you love the brand, then either of these will meet your needs.  If you’re looking for something a little better, it definitely exists.

The 16 inch model is the cheapest out of the three.  It’s also the smallest.  The 16 inch model will cost you around seven-hundred-and-fifty dollars.  It measures 60 X 30 X 60 inches, and weighs 380 pounds.  It’s made from quality steal, and it holds heat exceptionally well.  With a smoker of this size, you really have to know what you’re doing.  This is the smallest of the three we’re looking at here, but it’s still pretty big.  If you’re an amateur cooking for your family of two, then maybe you should get a smaller smoker.  If you mean serious business, this is this a good place to start.

If you’re done with starting, then maybe you’re ready for the 20 inch model.  The Horizon Smokers 20 Inch Classic Smoker is just more of a good thing.  If the 16 inch just won’t meet your needs, then you should pay the extra money and get the 20 inch.  This one is going to cost you around a thousand dollars.  It measures 60 X 34 X 66 inches, and weighs 480 pounds.  This smoker can cook for up to forty people.  It’s made of thick steel.  This smoker is not for the faint of heart.  It is for people who mean business.

The Horizon Smokers 20 Inch Marshal Smoker Grill is the top of the line.  It’s going to cost you about seventeen-hundred dollars.  This thing is huge.  It measures 79 X 34 X 60 inches, and weighs 565 pounds.  This mammoth gets the job done.  It can heat food at high enough temperatures to make them crispy, or low enough to make them juicy.  It’s a smoker to beat all smokers.

Let’s put this into perspective.  You could almost buy three of the 16 inch Horizon smokers for the price of the Marshal.  I don’t want to lecture you on how to spend your money; I just want you to realize what you’re getting yourself into.  All three of these smokers are going to be great, so just choose the one that satisfies your needs.

For smoked food enthusiasts that also know how to use a smoker, Horizon has you covered.  Their different sizes can suit a lot of needs.  Each have the same quality, it just depends how large you want your grill to be. These Horizon smoker reviews hopefully have helped you make a better buying decision.

Brinkman Smoker Reviews

If you’re in the market for a smoker, you may have at least narrowed the brand down to Brinkmann.  Brinkmann is a reliable brand that makes good smokers.  Let’s take a look at three of their best smokers, and see which one is the best.  We’ll look at the Brinkmann 852-7080-V Gourmet Charcoal Smoker and Grill, the Brinkmann 810-7080-8 Gourmet Electric Smoker and Grill, and the Brinkmann 810-5000-0 All-In-One Outdoor Cooker.

Brinkman Smoker Reviews

The 852-7080-V has the classic cylindrical shape.  It measures 17 X 17 X 35 inches, and weighs about twenty-five pounds.  This smoker will cost you about a hundred dollars.  It’s a great smoker for the enthusiast who is not a professional.  It gets the job done, and it’s affordable.  It does not have the functions some of the higher end models have, like adjustable vents.  These functions are not essential to the food tasting good, but might make your job a little easier if you know what you’re doing.

The 810-7080-V is a very similar smoker.  The main difference is that this model cooks with electricity.  It is shaped the same, and has the exact same measurements as the other model.  It weighs about five more pounds.  It will cost you thirty dollars more, but you won’t have to pay for charcoal.  Also, you won’t get the taste that charcoal gives to the food.  If you’re a big charcoal fan, then you have probably dismissed this model.

Another setback for this model is that it doesn’t get as hot as you can get coals.  If you are cooking meats or foods that you want to get really hot, you might be unhappy with this model.

The 810-5000-0 gives you the better of two worlds.  You can cook with either charcoal or gas.  There is not an option for electricity.  It’s shaped similar to the other two, but it stands on legs to allow for a propane tank to be stowed underneath.  This makes it a little heavier.  It measures 17 X 17 X45, and weighs about forty pounds.  It’ll cost you about one-hundred and fifty dollars.

This is a reliable product that gives you options.  You can cook things how you want to cook them.  Sometimes you don’t have time to keep checking on the coals, and it’s nice to know the propane will just keep burning.  Other times you want the food to be just right, and you feel like propane won’t give it the perfect taste.  It’s nice to have options, but they would be useless if they didn’t do a very good job.  Fortunately this model does a very good job.  If you want choices, this is the option to go with.

There are a lot of smokers out there to choose from.  Brinkmann makes an exceptional product. Most of their smokers are a good choice.  What you have to decide is what is right for you.  Usually the more you’re willing to spend, the better product you are going to get.  But, if you aren’t any good with the extra features, then maybe you should shop on the cheap end of Brinkman smokers.

Bradley Smoker Reviews

If you’re set on getting a Bradley smoker, then they have some good products to look at.  When it comes down to it, the choice is going to depend on what kind of features you want.  What kind of smoke tastes the best to you?  That’s a question you’re going to need to answer first.  Also, if you had more functions, could you use them?  If you are able to answer those questions then you’re ready to look at three of Bradley’s best smokers.  We’ll look at the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker, the Bradley Digital 4- Rack Smoker, and the Jim Beam BTDS76JB Bradley Smoker 4-Rack Digital Outdoor Smoker.

Bradley Smoker Reviews

First up is the BTIS1.  This smoker looks like an old fashioned safe.  Yes, this is a little on the expensive side at three-hundred dollars.  It measures 18 X 20 X 34 inches, and weighs about forty-five pounds.  This is an electric smoker.  Electric smokers can work great if you don’t like to keep coals hot, or refill propane canisters.  This model is very reliable, besides the occasional complaint that it doesn’t get hot enough.  This seems to be a staple of the electric smoker.  They just don’t get as hot as some people would like them.

The Digital 4 rack smoker looks a lot like the BTIS1.  It has the same measurements, and weighs about the same amount.  It costs quite a bit more at about four-hundred and fifty dollars.  The extra money goes into the functions.  Because this smoker is digital, you will be able to calibrate just about everything that goes into smoking food.  You can set the length of time it will run, the temperature, and how much smoke will be inside of it.  The only real complaint people have with this smoker is that it doesn’t get as hot as other smokers.  Once again, I have to point out how electric smokers never seem to be able to get really hot.  If you want your food crispy, you’re going to have to go with a different smoker.

Last up is the Jim Beam smoker.  This one looks exactly like the other two; except it has “Jim Beam” written on it.  Also, its measurements are a little different.  It measures 14 X 24 X 31, and weighs about seventy pounds.  So this is a heavier machine.  It’s priced at about four-hundred and twenty dollars.  It has digital controls like the last model.  It cooks with the same watts as the last model.  Really, besides the measurements and weight, the “Jim Beam” logo seems to be the only difference between this model and the other model.  So if you don’t mind that being on your smoker, you can save a few bucks by getting this one.

Bradley makes a great line of smokers.  All three of these options are going to please.  If you don’t mind an electric smoker, you shouldn’t have a problem with these models.  You just need to figure out if you want your smoker to digital or not.

Wood Smoker Reviews – Best Wood Smokers

Salivating to a fault, you can’t say no to some delicious meals.  That’s what you want to cook when company is coming over.  That’s what comes out of the best wood smokers.  Some companies know how to make a smoker better than others.  Let’s compare three of the top rated wood smokers to see what the best option is.  All three of these smokers are good, so if one seems to meet your needs more than another, pay no attention to my verdict.

Wood Smoker Reviews

First up is the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker.  Its name is a mouthful, but you’ll be filling your mouth with what it cooks.  The three-hundred dollar smoker is extremely reliable.  It has four racks in its stainless-steel interior.  It weighs forty-four pounds and is 18 X 20 X 34 inches.

The number one complement people give the Bradley smoker is that it’s easy to use.  Now, it would be one thing if the ease came at the price of unreliability, but this is not the case.  You just load up the Bradley how you want it, and it does the rest.

Next on the list is the Masterbuilt 20070106 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker.  First the specs: it weighs about fifty pounds and is 19-1/2 X 18-2/7 X 34 inches.  It also has four smoking racks.  This smoker will set you back about two-hundred dollars.  It’s similar to the Bradley in a lot of respects, besides being a hundred dollars cheaper.  When it comes down to it, people find the Masterbuilt unreliable.  It’s known to break down in the middle of a job.  There are a lot of people who love their Masterbuilt, but the lemons need to be addressed as well.

a diagram of an upright drum smoker.
Image via Wikipedia

Neither of these smokers is really for professional use.  They are a less expensive way for novice smokers to enjoy good food.  Both are good for their price range, but it looks like if you’re willing to pay a little more, you’ll get a better product.

Last up is the Char-Griller 2137 Outlaw 1038 Square Inch Charcoal Grill / Smoker.  This smoker looks like a grill.  It’s got an aesthetically pleasing design.  It’s comparatively priced with the Masterbuilt at about two-hundred dollars.  It’s about a hundred pounds and 49 X 29 X 50 inches.  It’s a bit bigger than the other smokers.  This is one of its selling points.  It claims to have one of the biggest cooking areas on the market.

This is my favorite smoker out of the three.  It’s incredibly reliable, and it’s cheaper than the Bradley.  There are some things to watch out for with this smoker.  If you buy it unassembled you need to realize that it’s going to be tough to assemble.  The directions are notoriously difficult to follow.  If this is going to be a problem, I recommend buying it assembled.

These are some of the best wood smokers on the market and they have the top wood smoker reviews.  Still, none of them will rock the world of a professional smoker.  If you’re looking for that, you need to go to the thousand dollar price range or make a 55 gallon drum smoker.

Propane Smoker Reviews – Best Propane Smokers

You’d be surprised how often it happens.  Someone is over at a friend’s house for dinner.  They eat a delicious meal of smoked meat.  They ask their friend how they made the meat so tasty.  The friend answers the question by pointing at their smoker.  So many people have no idea how easy it can be to smoke meat.  Let’s compare three of the best propane smokers on the market.  We’ll be looking at the Outdoor Leisure 34168G Smoke Hollow Propane-Gas Smoker, the Bradley Propane Smoker, and the Brinkmann 810-5000-0 All-In-One Outdoor Cooker.

Propane Smoker Reviews

Outdoor Leisure might not be the first brand you think of for smokers.  Still, they make a fine product.  Competitively priced at a little over two-hundred dollars, the Outdoor Leisure won’t break the bank anymore than the next smoker.  It has a push button igniter like most models.  It’s over fifty pounds, so you know it’s sturdy, and it measures 16 X 14 X 34 inches.  All and all it’s an affordable well working machine.

One of the things that separate this model from the others is that it cooks hot.  Some people find this annoying.  Well, if you want your food crispy, this smoker can’t be beat.  You see, other smokers can’t burn this hot.  So, if you want a smoker that can really cook, the Outdoor Leisure model is a good choice.  If you tend to like things cooked a little lower, then steer clear of this model.

The Bradley Propane Smoker is a specialized smoker.  I say this because it’s to be used while camping.  You cook your meat in a little replaceable tent.  It works very well, but it’s not a permanent solution to your meat smoking problem.  If you want an eighty-five dollar camping smoker then this is the way to go.  Otherwise, steer clear of this model.

In case you’re curious, the model has four cooking racks.  It weighs about twenty pounds, and measures 26 X 12 X 22 inches.

The Brinkmann smoker will cost you about fifty dollars less than the Outdoor Leisure.  The two smokers are very comparable.  It measures 17 X `17 X 45 and weighs about forty pounds.  It can cook up to fifty pounds of meat, so unless you’re trying to feed an army, you should be covered.  It won’t get as hot as the Outdoor Leisure, which as we discussed can be a good thing or a bad thing.

All three smokers will get their job done well.  They are three of the best propane smokers on the market.  If you’re a camper, then you’ll probably want to go with the Bradley Propane Smoker.  If you like your meat crispier and cooked a little hotter, than the Outdoor Leisure will be the one for you.  If you want a reliable smoker that cooks a little cooler, then the Brinkmann Smoker is a good choice.  No matter which one you choose, make sure you always fill your tank.  You don’t want to run out of fuel halfway through a smoke. These are some of the highest rated propane smoker reviews so you can be sure each one will perform for you.

Meat Smoker Reviews – Best Meat Smokers

Some people will say that meat isn’t cooked unless it’s smoked.  Smarter people say that meat isn’t smoked unless it’s smoked by one of the best meat smokers.  Let’s take a look at three of the best meat smokers on the market.  We will be looking at the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker, the Bradley Propane Smoker, and the Brinkmann 810-5301-C Smoke-N-Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill.

Meat Smoker Reviews

a typical offset bbq smoker

Bradley is a tried and tested name in the smokers market.  They are known for quality goods and the BTIS1 is no exception.  For three-hundred dollars you get a fifty pound smoker.  It runs for about eight hours between refueling.  It has four racks and measures 14-1/2 X 17 X 31 inches.

The smoker gets hot.  It doesn’t get as hot as it claims it can get, but it’ll get hot enough to smoke your food pretty good.  It’s on the expensive side for nonprofessional smokers, but it makes up for its steep price with reliability.  You don’t have to worry about this smoker breaking down.

The Bradley Propane Smoker is a fraction of the cost, but is an entirely different product.  This smoker is for camping.  It only weighs twenty pounds.  It’s 26 X 12 X 22 inches.  The propane smoker requires a tent covering that will need to be regularly replaced.  It’s not for setting up in your backyard.  As long as you realize you’re buying a camping smoker, it’s a great purchase.  Just don’t expect the same quality of the BTIS1 for a third of the price.  You won’t get that.

The Brinkmann will cost you about fifty-five dollars.  This is one of the less expensive smokers on the market.  It’s about 30 pounds and measures 28.2 X 33 X 28.8 inches.  The smoker can smoke up to fifty pounds of food at once.

With the Brinkmann you’re getting a beginner’s smoker for beginners.  The Bradley smokers are for beginners as well, but even they have a few bells and whistles.  The Brinkmann is about as simple as things get.  But, sometimes simple is reliable.  That is true in this case.  The Brinkman is  a somewhat safe purchase.

The only problem I can foresee someone having with the Brinkmann is if they bought it thinking they were getting something better.  When you’re spending such a small amount of money, you can’t expect to get the best item on the market.  The Brinkmann will suit your basic needs, but nothing more.

So, if you’re going camping you should get the Bradley Propane Smoker.  If you’re looking for a nice smoker with some real features, you should spend a little more and get the BTIS1.  If you’re a casual smoker, and you just want something that’ll get the job done, the Brinkmann is the perfect choice for.  All three are definitely some of the best meat smokers around and they have some of the highest rated meat smoker reviews.  As long as you know what you’re going to use it for, you should be able to make the perfect choice.

Gas Smoker Reviews – Best Gas Smokers

The food has been marinating all night.  In eight hours the guests will be arriving.  You’re about to throw the food onto the smoker, when you realize that it’s broken.  It’s at about this time when most of us wish that we had purchased a better product.

Gas Smoker Reviews

Image via Wikipedia

There are good gas smokers and there are great gas smokers.  Let’s take a look at three of the best gas smokers on the market and try to figure out which is the best one.  We will compare the Bradley Propane Smoker, the Masterbuilt 7 in 1 Smoker and Grill, and the Brinkmann 810-5000-0 All-In-One Outdoor Cooker.

First up is the Bradley Propane Smoker.  This smoker will set you back about eighty-five dollars.  It is known for its compact size.  This is good if you plan on using the smoker for camping.  The price is low, so you really can’t expect to get a high grade product here.  Simply put, it’s a well made smoker that serves its purpose.  It’s supposed to be used for camping.  I don’t think they intended it to be set up and left in your backyard.  It’s definitely one of the best gas smokers in its price range, but if you’re willing to spend a little more, you’ll get something better.

The Masterbuilt 7 in 1 Smoker and Grill will cost you around a hundred dollars more than the last smoker we looked at.  For those extra hundred dollars you get a smoker that also grills and cooks.  Besides these extra functions, it’s just a more durable machine.  It’ll work in weather that other smokers will not.  It’s more reliable.

Comparing it directly with the Bradley Propane Smoker, one advantage of the Masterbuilt is that it doesn’t use tents.  With the Bradley you will have to continuously replace the cooking tents.  The Masterbuilt doesn’t use tents, so you don’t have to replace them.  This is a plus if you plan on using the smoker pretty often.  On the other hand, it does make the smoker less mobile.  Still, this is one of the best gas smokers out there.

The last smoker is the Brinkmann 810-5000-0 All-In-One Outdoor Cooker.  It costs about a hundred and fifty dollars.  For the money you get a smoker that fry or grill up to fifty pounds of food.  Like the Masterbuilt smoker, the Brinkman isn’t going to be too mobile.

So if you’re buying a smoker to go camping, you should probably go with the Bradley.  If you want a smoker for backyard use, the Brinkmann seems to win.  With 170,000 BTU this smoker really packs a punch.  Sure, it can handle a turkey, but it can also smoke a salmon.  Dollar for dollar, it’s the best of the smokers on the market.

I hope this will help you enjoy some delicious smoked food.  If none of these smokers really wowed your world, remember that there are plenty of other smokers out there look at.  Maybe you need to find your own best gas smoker. These have some of the highest gas smoker reviews so it’s a good place to start.

Charcoal Smoker Reviews – Best Charcoal Smokers

A smoker needs to flavor your food just right.  For some people that means it has to come from coals.  Charcoal smokers are for the cooker who is willing to work for their prize.  It is tough work keeping the coals hot for a relatively short six hour smoke.  Imagine how hard it is to keep them hot for twelve hours.  It’s pretty tough.  The best charcoal smokers make it a little easier, but above that: they make it worth it.

Charcoal Smoker Reviews

Beef and Corn on a Charcoal BBQ grill

Let’s look at some of the best charcoal smokers on the market.  We will be looking at the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker 18.5-Inch Smoker, the Brinkmann 852-7080-V Gourmet Charcoal Smoker and Grill, and the Char-Griller 2137 Outlaw 1038 Square Inch Charcoal Grill / Smoker.

The Weber 721001 looks like a giant pill.  The smoker will cost you about three-hundred and twenty dollars.  So, it isn’t cheap.  It measures 19 X 19 X 41 inches.  It’s big enough to cook an entire turkey.  It weighs a little less than fifty pounds.

When it comes down to it, this is the smoker to beat all smokers.  It does everything right.  If you’re willing to use charcoal, this is the smoker to choose.  I’ll list the reasons, and compare it to the others, but it just comes down to quality and this one has more of it.  It contains the food well while it’s being cooked; it allows the right amount of smoke escape.  It’s made well.  It doesn’t disappoint.

Still, it’s a bit pricy.  The Brinkmann will cost you a hundred dollars.  That’s a third of the price.  The Brinkmann weighs a lot less at about 25 pounds.  It measures 17 X 17 X 35 inches.  So it’s a smaller smoker.  It can still smoke up to fifty pounds of food.  And it’s reliable.  It’s a well made product.  If you don’t want to spend us much, then this is a good option.

The Char-Griller is shaped very differently from the other two smokers.  It looks like a grill.  If you want a more traditional grilling aesthetic, then this is the smoker for you.  It’s priced between the other two smokers at about two-hundred dollars.  It’s big and heavy; which can definitely be a good thing.  It measures 49 X 29 X 50 inches.  It weighs over a hundred pounds.  This smoker can fit a lot of stuff in it.  It’s very reliable as well.

One of the only real problems with the Char-Griller is that is that there have been reports that the instruction booklet isn’t very good.  If you buy the smoker unassembled you might have some trouble putting it together.  While that isn’t enough of a problem not to buy something, it is enough of a problem to be worth mentioning.

All three of these smokers are going to make a smoked food fan happy.  After all, they are the best.  If you have the money, why not go with the most expensive?  If you don’t, either of the other options is worth your time. They all have some of the best charcoal smoker reviews.

Electric Smoker Reviews – Best Electric Smokers

Gas isn’t for everyone.  Sometimes it’s just easier to cook with electricity.  Maybe a few people even think meat cooks better in an electric grill.  In any case, let’s take a look at some of the best electric smokers on the market.  We’ll be looking at the Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker, the Old Smokey Electric Smoker, and the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker.

Electric Smoker Reviews

These are smoked
Image via Wikipedia

The Masterbuilt smoker is rectangular in shape.  It weighs about fifty pounds and measures 19.5 X 18.3 X 33.9 inches.  It has four smoking racks.  The smoker will cost you about two-hundred dollars.  The smoker works great for a lot of meats.  There are some problems when it comes to cooking meats that need to get hot.  Heat is not one of the Masterbuilt smoker’s best attributes.  It gets hot enough for some things, but lacks the power to get the job done in other areas.

The Old Smokey Electric Smoker is about twenty-five pounds and measures 15.5 X 15.5 X 29 inches.  It is cylindrical in shape.  This smoker costs a little less at one-hundred and fifty dollars.  This smoker works well for what it does.  I should address an issue that some people have with this smoker.  Some people complain that it is not a real smoker, because it does not allow smoke to pass through the meat while it is cooking.  They claim that because oxygen cannot enter the smoker while it is cooking, that smoke will not be able to last.  There is some logic to this complaint.  If you like a lot of smoke to pass through your meat while you’re smoking it, then you might not like this smoker.  Otherwise, it’s a dependable product that does heat food up.

Bradley is a very reliable brand in the smokers market.  This smoker is also rectangular in shape.  It weighs about forty-five pounds and measures 18 X 20 X 34 inches.  It has four racks.  This is the most expensive of the three smokers.  It costs about three-hundred dollars. For the extra money you get a reliable smoker that really smokes.  There’s no question that the smoke is passing through your food with this smoker.  Simply put, this smoker gets the job done.

The three smokers are comparable, but when it comes to overall quality the Bradley model seems to win.  For people who do not like to check on their food, and think of their smoker as a kind of slow cooker, the Old Smoker Electric Grill might be a good choice.  It does not require as much checking as the other two models.  That does come at a cost though.  The meat will not be as smoked as with the other models.

These are three of the best electric smokers on the market.  You’ll probably be happy with whichever one you choose.  Just make sure you’re getting what you want.  These three smokers are different from each other.  You need to be careful and choose the smoker that meets your needs. These 3 have some of the best electric smoker reviews.
